After a skydiving accident, Augie found himself deeply depressed and looking for a purpose in life. Eventually, he turned to Mepkin Abbey, where he has since spent a lot of time praying, learning from, and even living with the monks. Inspired by the selfless example of Brother John and the other monks, Augie penned two books, Brother John and Business Secrets of the Trappist Monks, and now spends every day trying to share the principles of faith and altruism he discovered at Mepkin.
